Background: Uninhibited (previously Sukhibhava) is an organization that works with community resource persons to promote health seeking behaviour in rural and under resourced communities across India.
Their biggest challenge is to effectively communicate information to their audience - women, men, adolescent girls and boys - who at times have no formal education and are fighting social stigma.

Background: Uninhibited (previously Sukhibhava) is an organization that works with community resource persons to promote health seeking behaviour in rural and under resourced communities across India.
Their biggest challenge is to effectively communicate information to their audience - women, men, adolescent girls and boys - who at times have no formal education and are fighting social stigma.
One of the biggest challenges in this project was designing and typesetting the content in 5 different languages and 4 scripts - English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada and Tamil, and keeping the flow of the manuals consistent.
The design interventions created for this purpose were visual learning aids, games and multilingual manuals for health facilitators.
In this project, design plays a role in giving the community the resources they need to bring social change in their societies. By making the information visual and relatable, we help the the message percolate to the young and old to break the silence around menstruation, making it easier for menstruating people to access privacy, sunlight, water, sanitary products and support.
